Your Role:

We have a new and exciting opportunity for a Procurement Services Coordinator to join our team within the Gillingham site. Main duties will be to provide our highly valued strategic customers with a comprehensive 3rd party procurement service, while maintaining and develop customer and supplier relationships to help drive on-time delivery and general service excellence. Assist and initiate improvement efforts that increase throughput, improve service, or reduce operation cost for both the customer and Merck. Lead local process improvement projects to ensure successful and timely completion. Work with colleagues in EMEA Procurement Services teams to share best practices and process improvements to build the business and opportunities across the region.

 

  • Respond promptly to procuring requests from customers.
  • Manage the order fulfilment process for 3rd party items from worldwide suppliers using appropriate systems and processes.
  • Procure materials following appropriate logistics and compliance regulations.
  • Handle complex customer and vendor communications via email, phone and occasionally face-to-face.
  • Maintain good relationships with vendors to ensure high levels of service.
  • Observe and evaluate supplier performance by recording data on our various worksheets.
  • Assist customers in quality issues; develop corrective actions, returns, cancellations as required.
  • Provide trouble shooting solutions within Sales and Supply Chain processes.
  • Provide reports as required for customers and/or other stakeholders on a regular basis regarding open orders and overall service levels. Assist supervisor in collection and interpretation of performance metrics.
  • Manage open order reports and take necessary actions to complete.

 

Who You Are:

  • Business experience is essential with experience with Microsoft Office or equivalent package
  • SAP knowledge would be desirable
  • Exceptional communication skills with the ability to strength in interpersonal relationships, between customers, suppliers.
  • Self-motivated and able to work independently or as part of a team
