Chemical Manufacturing Operations Technician

The Chemical Manufacturing Operations Technician will be part of the Chemical Manufacturing team in Carlsbad, CA. Specifically in the High-Volume Manufacturing Distillation (Purification) department, responsible for purifying 12+ chemicals 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. This position will start out on the day shift and will move to a night shift after 1-3 months.
- Operate / Monitor multiple purification systems at once
- Sample finished product and raw material
- Perform data entry
- Flex to monitor other department’s systems
- Operate forklift / electric pallet jack
- Manual and Automated vessel decontamination
- Chemical Packaging (Filling vessels with chemicals)
- Perform hazardous waste consolidation
- Acid wash stainless steel
- Maintain a clean and organized manufacturing environment
- Assist with unloading Isotainer truck
- Assist the Engineering team with troubleshooting system issues
- Inspect vessels and documentation for correctness and completeness
- Follow Safety/Quality practices
- Participate in continuous improvement projects
- Routine communication with Engineering, QC, QA, RGA, and Materials teams.
- Wear a full-face air-purifying respirator and other PPE
- Lift up to 50 pounds
Who You Are:
- Associate degree in a science discipline
- High School Diploma
- 5+ years chemical industry experience.
- Previous experience handling chemicals
- Previous experience in a fast-paced manufacturing environment
- Strong troubleshooting, documentation, and communication skills
- Ability to read and understand Safety Data Sheets and written work instructions
- A strong focus on quality and safety
- Experience using Microsoft suite including (Word, Excel, Access, SharePoint)
- Experience using SAP and LIMS systems
- Ability to use hand tools
