Your Role:


The Master Data Expert will support all aspects of the Material Master process for the EMD Group’s Electronic business.


The Master Data Expert is a global role supporting the Electronics business. The incumbent will be responsible for the creation of material master data, the extension of materials and the maintenance of all SAP material masters. This would include changing and obsoleting Material Masters. The scope of work includes finished goods, raw materials and hard goods materials for both the Materials segment as well as the Delivery Systems equipment division.


The Master Data Expert is primarily responsible for the maintenance of the material master data and the SAP master data quality at targeted levels in their functional area of responsibility and will utilize their understanding of SAP data structures, tools, and the work processes to create, extend, and maintain material masters for the Electronics business globally. This role will work closely with various business and functional groups in multiple geographies to execute the material master processes in accordance with the material master Service Level Agreements.


This position is also responsible for working with IT and the Head of Master Data Management US to develop and implement tools that are used for automated data loads and to conduct data audits. The position will also require the Material Master Data Expert to be assigned to projects.  The Material Master Expert would be involved in the Planning, Requirement Gathering, Implementation, Testing, Cutover and Go-Live and Hypercare phase of the project.


  • Serve as Key User for the data objects that they support. In this capacity the Master Data Specialist will provide first line consultation for business questions/requests. In addition, they must understand the effect of master data changes on the SAP business processes that utilize the data
  • Provide Master Data support for strategic initiatives such as system evaluations, system upgrades, mergers, divestitures, profit center realignments and Supply Chain realignments
  • Provide training to master data providers as needed
  • Perform regular master data quality audits, update audit metrics, determine root cause of defects, and correct all errors that are found
  • Support the scoping, testing and implementation of systems and tools which allow for more automation, simplicity, and increased speed of processing master data in SAP
  • Enforce the enterprise master data rules, work with business, and functional groups to ensure compliance with data quality standards and policies
  • Use Problem solving skills to resolve master data and process issues
  • Support Material obsoletions; and plant closures
  • Generate reports and queries as requested  


Who You Are:


Minimum Qualifications:


  • Associate Degree in Information Technology, Business Management, or other Supply Chain discipline 
  • 5+ years of master data, IT, or supply chain experience with a thorough understanding of the work processes and systems that are used to create / change / delete master data




  • High School Diploma or GED
  • 7+ years or master data, IT, or supply chain experience with a throrough understand of the work processes and systems that are used to create / change / delete master data


Preferred Qualifications:


  • Bachelor’s Degree in Information Technology, Business Management, or other Supply Chain discipline  
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; additional language skills
  • Previous experience with SAP and a good understanding of the SAP data structures
  • APICS certifications (CPIM or CSCP); SAP certifications
