Your Role:

As a Technical Writer, you will provide the Hometown plant with a resource to author and maintain operating procedures and specific work instructions for all processes. You’ll work with Engineering and Operations to develop procedures to comply with the requirements of OSHA’s Process Safety Management regulation for covered processes and to use the same philosophy for non-PSM covered processes as well. You will also perform the annual certification of procedures as mandated by the OSHA PSM standard. At times, because of expertise in plant operations, you may assist project teams in the development of procedures for new operating units at the Hometown Plant. Responsibilities include:

 

  • Work with Operators and Engineers to develop procedures which serve as the written documentation for the safe and efficient operation of a process unit. These procedures will ensure consistency among plant operators and serve as both new employee and refresher training tools.
  • Perform the annual certification, implement changes to current procedures via MOC (Management of Change) and create new procedures as needed
  • Help to maintain OSHA PSM compliance
  • Develop training and testing models related to plant operations

 

Who You Are:

 

Basic Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED
  • 3+ years’ work experience in a manufacturing environment

OR

  • Associate degree in Engineering or Science discipline

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Ability to read P&ID diagrams and interlock tables  
  • Experience in a chemical manufacturing environment
  • Basic understanding of process controls
  • Understanding and interpreting plant safety practices
  • Experience with document management systems
  • Ability to create, edit and format documents efficiently in Word in a fast-paced environment
  • Good organizational and communication skills
  • Good interpersonal skills
  • Proficiency with Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint
  • Experience and knowledge of the ISO requirements for document control and management of change
