Your Role: 

We're offering the exciting opportunity to become Site Director in Zhangjiagang, China. As this is the first greenfield Semiconductor Material manufacturing site in China, your role as the site director will be responsible to build the foundation of site operating staff while the site is being erected.

 

Your Main Responsibilities:

  • Build up Site Capabilities
    • Site staff hiring, designing training plan with existing sites in Taiwan/Korea
    • Final Commissioning/Quality Validations to ensure clean transition to Operations.
    • Establishing site operating process
    • Support final site government project sign off
  • Environment, Health, Safety & Security
    • The Site Leader is accountable for all site safety and EHS issues. Working in partnership with the Site EHS Leader, the Site Leader ensures that:
    • A site culture and expectation of zero incidents and continuous improvement on all safety and EHS matters exists. Employees are encouraged to proactively identify safety risks for correction
    • All local EHS legal requirements, abatement equipment and processes are aligned with local requirements and follow best design practices
    • Obtains required government certifications to lead a dangerous goods site
    • Sustains all required permits to conduct its activities in accordance with applicable laws and regulations
    • All EHS risks are correctly assessed and mitigated
    • Corporate EHS policies, programs, and procedures are fulfilled
    • Plans for investment in EHS related areas as appropriate
    • Site Leader leads the site EHS Committee
    • In case of EHS crisis the Site Leader leads the site crisis management team

 

  • Quality and compliance
    • Working in partnership with the Site Quality Head, the Site Director will ensure that:
    • The facility establishes and maintains a quality management system (QMS) aligned to the needs and expectations of semiconductor materials production and handling
    • All manufacturing activities are carried out in line with ISO9001, approved specifications for manufacturing processes and products, and applicable regulatory requirements
    • A site culture of zero incidents on all quality and product compliance matters exists
    • Create a site quality culture where all colleagues ensure all relevant standards are fulfilled daily
    • Ongoing and appropriate investment in plant and equipment is carried out to ensure that the facility meets appropriate quality standards
    • Audits and inspections from customer and regulatory bodies are supported
    • Supports the Site Quality Leaders in ensuring that all quality systems and measures receive appropriate focus
    • A mid to long term quality strategy which is aligned between the site and Electronics Quality, predicting upcoming industry trends and incorporating same into the site strategy to ensure risk minimization
    • Quality data and digital analytics are deployed to the expectations of Electronics  
  • Supply Reliability
    • Working in partnership with the Global Product Management, Supply Chain Planning and Logistics teams to:
    • Ensure that installed capacity will meet short and medium term demand
    • Ensure all orders are manufactured to schedule
    • Promote a culture of transparency between all relevant stakeholders
    • Proactively identify and communicate when problems or potential risks to supply arise and take appropriate counter measures.
    • Align and optimize inventory level to meet demand
    • Ensure that agreed service levels are reached
  • Efficiency
    • Ensure that the drive for efficiency is seen in the context of our other guiding principles – Safety / Quality / Regulatory Compliance / Service
    • Constantly challenge cost to ensure that the plant is operating efficiently within the context of demand volume. Monitor all relevant performance indicators, predicting impact on annual results, taking action to mitigate any over runs and eliminating waste
    • Provide guidance and drive to the Site Management Team when creating the annual operating plan
    • Develop in cooperation with the Global Product Management and Technical Operations teams a long-term development and investment plan for the site (site master plan & SD investment plan) as well as annual CAPEX plan on EHS, compliance and quality, capacity growth and asset maintenance investments
    • Ensure proactive plant risk management and risk mitigation in order to prevent service disruption
  • Site Leader role within the site Network
    • Fosters cooperation, learning and best practice deployment across sites
    • Ensure success of technology transfers to / from other sites and partners
    • In line with corporate and business objectives, is responsible for the overall prioritization and monitoring of site priorities and goals
    • Keeps abreast of technical developments that may impact the plant
    • Keeps abreast of regulatory requirements that may impact planning and execution of manufacturing, quality and compliance activities
    • Cross site talent planning.
  • Scope of People Responsibility
    • Provides leadership to the Site Management Team to ensure that each department is aligned to achieve site goals
    • Cooperates within matrix structures recognizing that final decision on some issues may be taken outside the plant
    • Implement HR policies and procedures which promote positive employee relations and are consistent with local statutes, client requirements and market conditions
    • Continually enhances the skill level of the organization by investing in the learning and development of the organization's employees, and by actively participating in the selection of external talent
    • Promotes a climate of positive employee relations by fostering two-way communication and by resolving employee issues in a timely manner

 

Who you are:

  • Education: Bachelor degree and above in Engineering, Chemistry or Materials Science
  • Working Experience:
    • Requires extensive professional experience (minimium of 10-15 years as a guide) including substantial managerial experience in diverse roles – minimum 5 years’ experience in a manufacturing plant management function.
  • Technical & Professional Knowledge:
    • Prefer candidate from Chemical background
    • Strong project management experience is ideal, i.e., managing high level integrated projects and meeting tight deadlines
    • Skilled at managing supply chain to deliver on time best cost solutions to customers
    • Working knowledge of quality principles and methods
    • Requires considerable depth and breadth of chemical manufacturing expertise
    • Requires good understanding of the Chinese regulatory environment
    • Challenges both himherself and others by managing employee performance, including the timely completion of performance appraisals and mid-year reviews, regular feedback, and appropriate action planning
