Your Role: An exciting opportunity has opened with our company. We are looking to hire a Head of Logistics in South Africa. As Head of Logistics you will have the following responsibilities: To manage and implement Logistics strategies and processes, including inbound freight, warehousing and fine distribution to domestic and export customers in South, Southern and East Africa. To achieve best in class operations to customers through continual optimisation and to ensure effective asset management and cost control. You will handle, direct, guide and lead all aspects of the logistics department of our Company to ensure its alignment with global and local business objectives. To ensure that efficient logistics and distribution procedures are implemented and maintained. To build effective relationships with logistics suppliers and actively run their critical metrics, cost and performance. To negotiate supplier contracts, prices and service level agreements on a local level. To effectively handle and demonstrate control over all Logistics related costs. To establish and effectively manage the inbound shipping process for our Company, to ensure that the defined important metrics are met; manage relevant freight forwarders and actively measure their performance; inbound cost analysed and processes continually optimised; complete adherence to the local legislation w.r.t. Tariffs and controls. To plan and manage the outsourced warehousing activities and logistics partner in South Africa, ensuring effective warehousing KPIs; GDP fully in place; temperature monitoring and associated processes effectively done. To effectively plan and lead the outbound / fine distribution processes in South, Southern and East Africa, ensuring that the delivery service levels are met and continually improve to ensure a driven advantage. To effectively lead and demonstrate control over the bonded stock process and store at the University of Pretoria; to ensure optimal processes and stock management. To recruit, develop and maintain a high-performance culture and team in line with the organisational strategy.

Who you are:

  • You have a Supply Chain related degree/diploma. A degree/diploma in a Science related field will be an advantage. You have completed a course in project management, ISO 9001, GDP and handling of dangerous goods.
  • You have at least 15 years of experience in a similar role within the logistics and distribution environment with a minimum of 10 years in a management capacity.
  • You must have led Third-party service providers for at least 8 years.
  • You have proven project management experience and a deep understanding of dangerous goods handling and associated legislation.
  • You are proficient in English.
