Your Role:

EMD Serono in Billerica, MA is seeking a highly motivated Sr. Associate Scientist to join our Immunology Preclinical Pharmacology team.  The Sr. Associate Scientist will contribute to the discovery and development of drugs for treating autoimmune and neuroinflammatory diseases, will help progress advanced projects from late preclinical through early clinical trials and may also execute studies to help better understand basic disease biology.


The role will involve working in a team of scientists that develops and executes innovative approaches to help characterize drug candidates and develop novel biomarkers.


  • Follow the latest developments in the field and design and execute experiments independently
  • Diligently document all research, analyze data, and present research results at internal and external meetings 


Who you are:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Immunology, Biology, or other related Scientific discipline with 2+ years of experience in immunology


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in pharmaceutical drug discovery and development
  • Hands-on in vivo skills and familiarity with animal disease models
  • Experience with autoimmune disease biology
  • Experience in primary cell isolation/culture, flow cytometry and other state of the art immunology techniques
  • Experience with gene expression analysis using QPCR, NanoString, RNA-seq, or scRNA-seq
  • A desire to see candidate molecules progress to become new drugs
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, cross-functional, and team-oriented environment
  • Excellent interpersonal and written communications skills
