Merck KGaA, Darmstadt, Germany is listed on the Germany Regulated Market and as such is obliged to prepare consolidated financial statements in line with IFRS. Group Accounting Standards is part of Group Accounting and the global finance organisation of Merck. As a corporate function the team represents Merck's global centre of excellence for reporting matters and dedicated complex accounting standards related to IFRS.

 

Your Role

 

Reporting to the Head of Group Accounting, the Head of Group Accounting Standards, who will be responsible for leading a team of highly specialised experts in IFRS and external financial reporting at the corporate group level.

This role has specific responsibility for defining how IFRS should be interpreted and applied across the Merck Group as well as monitoring the developments of the International Accounting Standards Board (IASB) to ensure the organisation is proactive in addressing future accounting policies and principles, standards and interpretations and in ensuring their adoption globally. 

Ultimately this role leads the team responsible for preparing the annual and quarterly reports of the Merck Group, working closely with Investor Relations and Corporate Communications and ensuring their compliance.

 

You have

 

  • A PhD in International Accounting or have other globally recognised qualifications sich as Germany CPA, ACCA, or US CPA
  • Have a minimum of 8-10 years working experience in IFRS consulting, audit of IFRS financials, IFRS enforcement or as a leader of Group accounting policy in a major publicily listed company.
  • Experience manging groups containing highly specialised experts
  • A Deep knowledge of IFRS
  • Fluency in spoken and written German and English
