Your Role:


The R&D Chemist will create high value-added formulated products for advanced microelectronics device manufacturing by assisting the research of Sr. Scientists and through independent projects. Specifically, you will join the Advanced Oxide R&D group for Chemical Mechanical Planarization (CMP) slurry development. You will work in a team consisting of other scientists to develop next generation CMP slurries and provide technical solutions to semiconductor industry needs.


  • Conduct fundamental research to understand slurry component functions, polishing mechanisms, polishing film properties, and interactions between slurry and film
  • Design and execute stability testing on formulations
  • Assist Sr. Scientists to develop new CMP slurry formulations according to customer performance specifications
  • Assist or lead implementation of new metrology or other wet lab equipment to support new product development
  • Collect, analyze, and summarize data and make data-driven decisions to guide direction of projects
  • Develop strong collaborations and partnerships with Sr. Scientists, engineers, and technicians for execution of projects in R&D and new product transfers to pilot plant scale-up
  • Understand and follow proper laboratory safety protocols for handling chemicals, using proper protective equipment, and maintaining a safety-first mentality


Minimum Qualifications:


  • Bachelors of Science in Chemistry, Material Science, or related scientific discipline
  • 2+ years of experience in general laboratory techniques


  • Masters of Science in Chemistry, Material Science, or related scientific discipline


Preferred Qualifications:


  • Working experience with semiconductor industry or chemical material industry
  • Technical depth in formulations, surfactants, polymers, colloidal chemistry, electrochemistry, and defect metrology
  • Knowledge of statistical design of experiments and statistical software
  • Excellent interpersonal skills that support a diverse team environment.
