Your Role:

 

At EMD Electronics, the HVAC Mechanic will be responsible for troubleshooting, maintaining, and repairing site HVAC equipment including boilers, chillers, coolers, and cooling towers. 

  • Use diagrams, sketches, OEM manuals, and engineering specifications to troubleshoot, maintain and repair malfunctions. 
  • Communicate job status, document job activities and observations, record all refrigerant purchase, recovery, and additions per EPA regulations and EMD Electronics procedures
  • Accurately perform inventory transactions and maintain a safe and clean work environment by complying with site procedures and safety programs.
  • Day-shift position but includes opportunity for scheduled and emergency overtime on nights and weekends.
  • Troubleshoot, maintain, and repair HVAC equipment and components to manufactures recommendation, including but not limited to valves, belts, bearings, filters, fans, and blowers including troubleshooting of motors, fan coils, heat exchangers, boilers, chillers, cooling towers, air conditioning and pumps, air cooled chillers, helical screws and centrifugal equipment.
  • Use hand and power tools including precision measuring instruments
  • Perform rolling element and journal bearing replacement and maintenance
  • Maintain static and dynamic seals, couplings, drives, alignments, following all lubrication practices and principles

 

Physical Attributes:

  • Work in confined spaces and at heights of up-to 60 feet utilizing a ladder as needed
  • Operate forklift and aerial work platforms

 

Who You Are:

 

Basic Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED
  • EPA-approved Universal Certificate per Section 608
  • 3+ years’ experience troubleshooting, maintaining, and/or repairing industrial HVAC systems, boilers, chillers, coolers, and cooling towers

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Trade School certificate OR participation in a union HVAC apprenticeship program
  • Ability to work in confined spaces and at heights
  • Prior experience with safety work permits and lock-out / tag-out procedures
  • Prior process chemical plant experience
  • Fundamental knowledge of basic electricity
  • Functional knowledge of equipment controls and variable frequency drives (VFDs)
  • Proficient in reading schematics and Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams (P&ID’s)
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal skills
