Your Role:

The Associate Logistics Specialist role at MilliporeSigma will be based in The Woodlands, Texas. In this role, the Associate Logistics Specialist will:

  • Support day to day operations of the warehouse in coordination with the site Logistics Specialist.
  • Assist production and engineering departments with non-inventory or inventory material planning, expediting, and supplier invoice discrepancies in coordination with the site Procurement specialist.
  • Be the main point NPDI Administrator for the NPDI process used to request the creation of material numbers and the extension of materials with the required data in the ERP system.
  • Provide support to the shipping operations when required.

Essential Warehouse Job Functions:

  • Ensures a safe, clean work environment is maintained through proactive safety measures, including, but not limited to, people keeping warehouse and shipping areas clean and aisles clear, as well as monitoring and enforcing proper use of personal protective and other safety equipment and safe behaviors. Provide support in maintaining a safe work environment and ensure area is maintained in a state of audit readiness per 6SE and all quality guidelines for ISO 9001, ISO 13485, ISO 14001, OSHA, and DOT.
  • Communicate/document potential safety hazards and work to minimize or eliminate hazards. Work closely with the Sr. Distribution Supervisor to address all safety and quality items with internal systems and controls.
  • Performs departmental activities related to warehousing and shipping when required.
  • Warehouse Organization - Understand and manage flow and storage of goods in an efficient way to enable faster and accurate processing of orders. Plan layout of warehouse and other storage areas, considering turnover, size, weight, and related factors of items stored.
  • Receiving and Shipping - Receiving containers, stowing boxes on racks, scanning inventory, pick customer orders, process shipments etc.
  • Ship large freight equipment, instrumentation, or special category shipments in accordance with 49CFR/DOT and IATA/Air Transport regulations (when required).
  • Scheduling activities for requisitions, order processing and other logistics functions needed to complete daily requirements for production, warehouse and engineering departments when required.
  • Assist production and engineering departments with non-inventory or inventory material planning, expediting, and tracking K-type inventory and some service-related purchase requisitions,
  • Assist with resolving supplier invoice discrepancies and RFA’s in coordination with the site Procurement specialist.
  • Facilitate cycle counts to ensure the program is active when Logistics Specialist is out of office. Determine root cause of inventory discrepancies and take actions to prevent reoccurrence.
  • Follow record keeping process guidelines closely to meet all documentation requirements. Assists in documentation preparation and review.
  • Assist Logistics Specialist with timely management of expired and non-conforming items.
  • Process Improvements: Work with Logistics Specialist to drive projects or serve on committees to improve safety, margin, delivery, quality and minimize operating cost. Strive for a lean manufacturing and continuous improvement driven operation.
  • Participate in documenting processes and identifying areas for improvement focusing on quality, efficiency, & safety.
  • Other job-related activities as assigned.

Essential NPDI Administrator Functions

  • Review inventory entry/removal approval requests for production, engineering and warehouse for all inventory and non- inventory material additions to ERP.
  • Support as the main point of contact for all NPDI requests and inquiries from all requesting departments.
  • Create, monitor, and track all decision points and help expedite the NPDI process.
  • Review the ADAPT, Material Master Plant Extension and Product information files with the requestors.
  • Once final decision points are approved, notify requestor via email of completion.
  • Follow record keeping process guidelines closely to meet all documentation requirements. Assists in documentation preparation and review.

Essential Shipping Job Functions (Back up, if required)

  • Label products fulfilling quality and quantity requirements.
  • Package products for shipment insuring against damage (International and domestic)
  • Ship orders according to customer requirements or those set by Federal, State, and Carrier requirements.
  • Correctly file all Federal and State agency documentation (I.e. SED, Commercial Invoices, TSCA, Tariff codes, etc.)
  • Provide communication/follow-up to production, customer service or related departments with any customer order related inquiries and matters.

Expert level support:

  • Understand and support Company policies and procedures – commits to avoiding short cuts or deviates from established policies and procedures.
  • Commitment to safety, quality, and the principles of Lean Manufacturing.
  • Provides problem solving and trouble-shooting assistance and support to department personnel.
  • Computer Proficiency - Usage and mastery of inventory management software, shipping software, inventory reporting, inventory audits, inventory movement etc. Must have advanced level of computer and software operational skills
  • Ability to make independent, timely decisions, to develop and maintain positive, collaborative relationships with internal and external customers, manufacturing, suppliers, and managers

Physical requirements:

  • Close vision and the ability to adjust focus.
  • Walk, stand, bend, and twist, and or lift/reach overhead throughout shift
  • Lift, push, and or pull up to 30lbs
  • Wear personal protective equipment (PPE) including but not limited to gloves, lab coat, safety glasses, respirator, face shield, safety, etc…


Who you are:

Minimum Qualifications:


  • Education: High School Diploma or GED
  • 1+ years of manufacturing, distribution, or logistics experience.


Preferred Qualifications

  • Working knowledge of SAP ERP – specifically warehouse/inventory management
  • Knowledge of Inventory Management Systems
  • Thorough understanding of inventory control, cycle counting, reconciliation
  • Ability to communicate effectively with colleagues, both verbally and in writing.
  • Understand the importance of balancing effective verbal and written communications to develop good working relationships across departments to ensure maximum effectiveness.
  • Detail oriented; Ability to organize, multitask and prioritize
  • Proficient in PC use – specifically MS Word and Excel.
  • Ability to execute tasks at a high level of speed and accuracy
  • Ability to handle a fast-paced environment
  • Must be self-motivated, energetic, honest, and possess a team attitude. 
  • Demonstrate attention to detail and good documentation skills
  • FedEx Ship Manager Software as applicable
  • Detail-oriented
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize
  • Problem-solving abilities
