Our Life Science business
Our life science business areas are designed to best address our customer’s needs. We provide
lab products and equipment for applications in the life science and industrial markets. As a trusted
partner for the worldwide lab market, Merck provides premium quality, competence, reliability, and
consistency. You will be part of the Lab Water Solutions business unit which provides world-class water
purification systems and services.
Water is the most commonly used solvent in laboratories and constitutes often more than 99% of the
mass of solutions used in experiments. The quality of water used in the lab is therefore critical for the
success of the tests performed. Merck lab water products are used by customers all over the world to
provide ultrapure water for critical laboratory analysis and for clinical testing. Consistent, high quality
water significantly impacts the precision and sensitivity of laboratory test results. Since years, Merck
is the leading supplier for water purification systems ranging from bench-top water purification
systems to custom designed purification chains for laboratory buildings.

Geographic scope


Job summary
In this role you will be responsible of a team of 7 people including 6 LW Field Sales Specialits and 1 Digital Sales spécialist . You will ensure budgets are achieved with the highest possible return,
You will manage your team as a Sales coach and a team manager in implementing a clear strategy.
Your team will deal with products, applications and pricing questions in a manner which will increase the company's
market presence, emphasize differentiation from Merck's competitors and build upon the company's
reputation for excellence.

Job responsibilities
Achieve budget region
Ensure that the team quarterly budget for BNL is achieved, by gaining market share (e.g. competitive
conversions, customer expansions, etc.), maintaining market share (e.g. process optimization, timely
reaction to customer enquiries, etc.) and seeding of Merck products in the customer´s pipeline.
Forecast and plan region
Provide, on a weekly basis, an accurate (realistic) forecast of the projected regional orders.
Develop and execute a detailed business plan for growth in revenues of the region in agreement with
the direct manager and aligned with the company goals.
Sales management
Develop the right Selling coach management of your team  in order it to create favorable relationships with
customers in their territory by developing an extensive network of contacts within accounts, including
all relevant influencers and decision makers around projects. Monitor, maintain and update customer's
information (drug pipeline, organization, etc.) and competition activities in appropriate databases.
Monitor customer orders to ensure budget is achieved and customers are delivered in a timely
manner. Ensure Merck handles complaints in a correct and timely manner.
Know, understand and successfully work as a team leader with the different ressources available from Merck,
to ensure your team supervision success 
Products and services to sell/support by your team members
Pure and ultrapure water is the mostly used chemical reagent in every lab. Your customer base is very
wide: universities, pharmaceutical and clinical business, analytical and research labs, QC labs etc.
Merck is market leader and delivers the most innovative technologies and water purification systems
on lab scale. The Field Sales Specialists tasks are to find the right Merck solution applying the best to your customer’s needs
and budget. They are responsible for the sales of these systems with accessories and consumables in
your territory. 


Technical competencies
• Degree in Science and/or Business school ,College or university.
• Fluent in Dutch and English,french is a plus. 
• Proven sales management experience

• Customer focused, strong communicator, team leader, Sales coach
• Self-motivated with ability to work with other business units
• Proactive and decisive personality
• Team player
• Desire to develop employees
• Flexible, willing to travel, spend 50% of the time in customer visits
