Your Role:


Additional information/functions:

  • The incumbent is responsible for the integration of Control Systems in a Chemical Manufacturing Environment where safety is paramount.   The incumbent will be responsible for ensuring systems meet safety and productivity requirements and maintain on-stream targets.
  • This role will involve commissioning, validation, and start-up of control systems.
    Primary responsibilities:
  • Assist operations to resolve product quality, reliability and operability issues and sustain 24/7 operation.
  • Act as an individual technical contributor to identify, develop and design improved operating and control strategies to achieve productivity targets for production systems
  • Support and execute plant productivity projects.
  • Project related responsibilities include participation in P&ID development, Hazard Reviews, Safety assessments/verifications; specification of instrumentation hardware, analyzers, and valves as well as the design, configuration, and commissioning of the Process Automation System (PAS) and Programmable Electronic Safety System (PES)



Who You Are:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of experience in an engineering capacity
  • 5+ years of hands-on experience in the process industry
  • 5+ years of experience PLC programming design and coding
  • Degree in Chemical, Mechanical, Electrical or Control Systems Engineering


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with: Siemens PLCs - PCS7, TIA Portal, GE/Emerson PLCs - Proficy Machine Edition, Allen Bradley or Modicon PLCs
  • Able to work in a hands-on environment in an operating plant
  • Able to work in groups, interacting with plant operators, controls engineers, maintenance, production engineers, plant supervision and line management
  • Experience in PID loop and cascade loop tuning
  • Experience with plant optimization projects
  • Proficient in Control Panel design, electrical wiring schematic, control loop drawings and panel layout
  • Knowledge of Visio and/or AutoCAD
  • Proficient in Human Machine Interface development using one or more than the following programs: WinCC or Intouch
  • Working Knowledge of National Fire Codes (NFPA) and National Electric Codes (NEC)
  • Working Knowledge of Microsoft Windows
  • Working knowledge of trouble shooting Computers, networks and Control Panels
