Your Role:

Information on the Business Unit

The Delivery Systems and Services (DS&S) business offers gas/chemical/slurry delivery equipment, installation projects, aftermarket- and on-site services to the Electronics industry. Our customers mainly operate in the semiconductor and display markets. Primary objective of the business is to improve revenue, profitability, and market share of our DS&S portfolio, by developing and marketing the right combination of products and services with competitive pricing.

Overview of the Role

The Senior Procurement Manager will drive improvement in the materials management area while reducing component and outsourcing costs through innovative material planning, inventory management, and sourcing strategies and flawless execution. This position is responsible for strategic engagement with select suppliers to ensure the long-term stability and business continuity of our supply chain to support our manufacturing operation.  This includes collaboration with senior commercial, manufacturing, engineering, and product management leaders to ensure that continual monitoring of the market situation and specific customer orders and forecast to ensure the proper supply of materials to avoid impacts to our manufacturing operations.  

The role reports directly to the Global Head of Procurement for DS&S business unit and is part of the Greater China & Southeast Asia Regional Leadership team with line responsibility over all business unit procurement staff in the region. The regional General Manager is the primary business partner with joint ownership (together with the Global Head of Procurement for DS&S) on target and priority setting, people development and performance management.

Position Responsibilities

The Senior Procurement Manager is responsible for:

  • Supplier management: Supplier management, purchasing, and coordination of material flow to meet customer requirements and profitability objectives as well as meeting production schedule requirements. Provide proposals on supply awards to recognize outstanding supplier performance.
  • Supplier quality: Ensure delivery of defect-free products by contributing to continuous improvement and root cause analysis efforts of non-compliance items and supplier quality management.
  • Inventory management: Develop, monitor, and pursue tactical initiatives/projects with suppliers that meet corporate goals on inventory management. In charge of reorder point (ROP) and minimum order quantity (MOQ) maintenance and analysis as well as providing accurate and up-to-date delivery schedules (or best forecast) of ordered goods to ensure seamless production planning.
  • Strategic sourcing & localization: Strategic sourcing with an emphasis on improving supplier engagement and relationship through strategy development, supplier relationship management, bidding, and contract negotiation/execution. Drive localization of the bill of materials and new parts qualification in close alignment with Product Management, Engineering and Supplier Quality Management by identifying and qualifying in-region suppliers to improve cost, speed and flexibility of operations. Develop and maintain long-term supplier and procurement contracts.
  • Collaboration and communications: Collaborate with the commercial team to share forecasts with suppliers of anticipated demand combines historical data, manufacturing forecast, manufacturing capacity and product line sales and marketing forecasts. Collaborates effectively across the local and global stakeholder landscape and across functions (incl. Commercial, Engineering, Manufacturing). Proactively provide regular reporting on purchasing status including stock and cost analysis, also raise early alert and date change in case of delivery delays. This includes all the parts purchasing including external purchases or internal stock transfer.
  • Risk management: Coordination with the engineering team to minimize supply risk through qualification of alternate suppliers for sole sourced components and other strategies.
  • Continuous improvement: Define and realize continuous improvement initiatives that improve profitability. Generate sustainable improvements in procurement performance by developing and implementing processes, standards and policies throughout the function. Track supplier and internal performance, institute improvement plans around issues which negatively impact the operation of the business, reduce material lead times, optimize inventory levels.


In addition, the position holder is expected to meet the following leadership expectations:

  • Achieve safety, health, and environmental targets (ex: Recordable Injury Rate) through the deployment of an effective Basic Safety Process (BSP) based on the management of Factory Managers (Site Directors).
  • Manage staffing through the appropriate hiring, exit, and disciplinary actions in collaboration with HR.
  • Ensure and promote the development of direct reports and interface partners through leadership development and management tools such as coaching, mentoring, training.
  • Create and maintain and inclusive and engaging work environment for all employees.
  • Ensure a strong and robust communications process across teams as needed by leading communications sessions and meetings and ensuring the appropriate dissemination of communications to support staff and within the global Procurement function.
  • Act as the primary leadership interface and single point of contact for Procurement into/out of the region.

Who you are:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree with focus in supply chain, logistics, or operations management  
  • 5+ years’ experience in Supply Chain management 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Certification in APICS or ISM preferred.
  • Master’s degree in relevant domain.
  • Demonstrated success in developing and implementing procurement, supplier management, material planning and inventory management strategies and practices supporting overall business goals – reduced costs, reduce lead times, high operational availability, and reduced on-hand inventory.
  • Demonstrated success in developing and fostering relationships with suppliers while driving lower costs, superior performance, and continuous improvement.
  • Strong execution ability, proactivity, business orientation and passion.
  • Experience in a discrete manufacturing environment highly preferred.
  • Strong working knowledge of purchasing processes and ERP systems (SAP preferred) including Materials Requirement Planning (MRP) and materials management modules.
  • Experience in Forecast/Demand Planning, Purchasing, Sourcing, or Materials Management.
  • Knowledge of computerized forecasting, planning, and purchasing techniques.
  • Proactive, results oriented, and can collaborate effectively across various teams, i.e., Sales, Product Management, Engineering and Manufacturing.
  • Independent problem solving/decision making and ability to manage multiple, competing priorities.
  • Excellent communication skills (written and verbal).
  • Experience leading a team preferred.
