The Associate General Counsel will lead a team consisting of one lawyer and one paralegal and reports to the Head of Legal R&D based in Darmstadt, Germany. This team provides comprehensive legal support to EMD Serono’s US-based research (pre-clinical) and development groups for all therapeutic area and will also be responsible for certain global activities including without limitation supporting global clinical development programs and collaborating closely with global legal and other US based colleagues. Further responsibilities include the support of strategic projects including industry and academic collaborations, negotiating and drafting research, clinical trial and collaboration agreements as well as CRADAs, reviewing scientific materials and external presentations. You will proactively identify, counsel and communicate potential legal issues and manage risks through counselling, training and practical application of relevant legal and regulatory requirements, EMD Serono policies and procedures and applicable laws. Further activities include active participation in Legal Department projects, management of outside counsel if specialized advice is required and other related duties as assigned.
