Your Role:

MilliporeSigma, a leader in providing products and services to the bioprocess industry, is searching for a GCMS scientist for our Analytical Technologies team.  The position is based in Bedford, MA and is part of the BioProcessing Research and Development (R&D) group.   The Analytical Technologies group focuses on the development, optimization and performance of analytical methodology supporting research and development of new products for MilliporeSigma’s filtration and single-use business.   The candidate’s focus will be to develop, validate and perform GCMS methods in support of extractable studies used for the determination of chemicals that can be released or migrate from single-use disposable and filtration devices.  The candidate will lead projects to establish methods for trace analysis to identify and quantify extractable and leachable species, as well as develop and validate methods for use in routine extractable testing.

  

Who You Are:

A scientist to perform analytical testing in support of ongoing research and development projects, troubleshooting manufacturing issues, and responding to customer complaints.  This professional will participate on multi-disciplinary product development teams, will complete technical reports and external publication (as appropriate).   The candidate will be expected to work in the lab 75% of the time.

 

Minimum Qualifications:

  • B.S. in Chemistry or a related field with 3+ years of experience in GCMS Analysis, or a master’s degree in Chemistry or related field with 1+ years’ experience in GCMS Analysis
  • 3+ years of laboratory skills and a fundamental understanding of analytical, organic, and polymer chemistry as they relate to extractables. 
  • 3+ years developing and validating chromatographic methods utilizing HPLC, GC/MS, and IC and experience in the field of extractables are essential. 

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills are required.
  • Experience in the pharmaceutical industry is preferred.
  • This position requires ability to participate in multidisciplinary teams.
