Your role:

Discovery New Chemical Entities in Drug Metabolism and Pharmacokinetics (Dx NCE DMPK) group within Discovery and Development Technologies at Merck Healthcare R&D is responsible for the overall non-clinical DMPK contribution to NCE projects, from concept generation up to development. We fulfill internal and regulatory requirements with emphasis on absorption, distribution, and metabolism to support an integrated evaluation of activity, toxicity and value of our compounds for the patients. Within the Dx NCE DMPK group there is one vacancy for a DMPK bench scientist.

As part of our expert team you will develop, validate, and run biological in vitro tests (e.g. biotransformation/metabolite identification, drug-drug interaction, metabolic stability, and permeability assays) and bioanalytical methods in the field of DMPK as well as monitor external studies.


Who you are:

  • Master in (bio-)chemical or (bio-)analytical discipline and ideally with experience (>2 years) in bioanalysis (BA), method set-up and liquid chromatography-(high resolution)-mass spectrometry within pharmaceutical industry or CRO or a Bachelor (BSc)/degreed engineer (Dipl. Ing.) with graduation and similar experience (> 3 years). Experience with regulated/non-regulated BA, LIMS, ELN systems would be a plus.
  • Hands-on experience in the field of DMPK, e.g. proven record of performing and developing state-of-the-art biotransformation, drug-drug interaction, metabolic stability, and permeability assays
  • Excellent organizational skills, flexible and proactive way of working, independently as well as part of a team. Analytical skills with strong focus on accuracy, reliability and sense of urgency to provide the right data at the right time
  • Ability to design novel scientific studies (based on own experience or search in the literature) and drive them with limited supervision
  • Fluent in German and good level of English
